By now most IT Professionals are aware of the Windows Server 2008 installation option of Server Core. In summary, Server Core is a cut down version of Windows Server 2008 which does not contain any rich graphical interface (GUI) components such as Windows Explorer. Some time ago I was searching around the internet for a good description of the Kerberos Authentication Protocol used in such technologies as Microsoft's Active Directory and Novell Netware. For anyone who has had to resize images before, it is often a tedious task considering how simple it should be. Windows Paint can do its not much fun if you have a lot to do a lot of photos, and I feel that you should not have to shell hard earned cash for such a seemingly simple task. There are a number of applications out there but not many provide a nice degree of configurability and usability. That is where I find Image Tuner to be my pick in this class of application. Microsoft Security Essentials will be a free real time malware protection provided to replace the One Care package that Microsoft currently has available. SyncToy is a file synchronisation utility for maintaining copies of you data folders in multiple folders. Most commonly used as a backup style tool to copy files from a computer to a network location or external hard drive. Once SyncToy has performed its initial sync, it will only copy files and folders that have changed, creating a much more granular file synchronisation process. Recently Microsoft and their main competitor in the consumer space Apple announced the prices of their upcoming Operating Systems. Windows 7 and Snow Leopard respectively. The prices from a simple standing point look as follows. Windows 7 will cost anywhere from $50 to $120. Snow Leopard will cost $29 as far as Apple's marketing department is concerned.
